The Promise V The Law

The law was given by God four hundred and thirty years after Abraham received this promise. Did the law add anything to the promise? The answer is no. Was the promise annulled? Absolutely not. The situation remained unchanged after the law was given, and men were now blessed by both the law and the seed.
Now, according to the promise, we are to be blessed in Abraham’s seed. That is what the promise says, “in your seed, all nations shall be blessed.” This cannot be changed. Paul is directly addressing this issue, asserting that the law could not enhance the promise that had been confirmed four centuries prior.
