The title of this book is “The Law – A Yoke of Bondage”. The phrase “yoke of bondage” appears in the book of Galatians, where the apostle Paul cautions Christians against straying from Christ’s teachings and failing to resist temptation to return to the law of Moses, which he calls the “yoke of bondage.” This is revealed to us in Gal 5:1.
Galatians 5:1. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Let me ask you a crucial question before we go any further. “Who is more important and has the most authority. Is it Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, the creator of the earth and heavens, the only one who can mediate between us and God the Father, and the only one who can pardon our sins, or is it Moses, God’s servant?
Moses comprehended that an individual of greater influence than himself would emerge, and he recognised that it was imperative that we listen to this individual. Moses gives us instructions to hearken, or pay attention to him in Deu 18:15.
Deu 18:15, ¶ The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
This is Moses telling us we must listen to this prophet that God would raise up from among the people, and we must listen to him.
We all know that this person Moses tells us to listen to is Jesus Christ. But he is not the only one who tells us this. God spoke these words to us when John the Baptist baptised Jesus.
Mat 17:5, While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Now we have both Moses and Almighty God telling us to listen to Jesus, so let me ask another question. “Who will you listen too?
